Sheet metal punching hole

1 .size of sheet metal blanking hole

Generally speaking, the punching size of sheet metal is at least 1.5 times the thickness of sheet metal. Of course, the punching size is also related to the material. The minimum punching size of softer materials can be less than the thickness of the sheet metal, while the minimum punching size of harder materials (such as stainless steel) should not be less than 1.5 times the thickness of the sheet metal, that is, D ≥ 1.5T.

  1. Avoid that the hole is too close to the bending edge or forming feature of the sheet metal

The minimum distance between the blanking hole of the sheet metal part and the bending edge or forming feature of the sheet metal part is 1.5 times of the sheet metal thickness plus the bending radius or forming radius, i.e. e ≥ 1.5T + R, otherwise the blanking hole is easy to be distorted during bending or forming.
