No Indentation Bending Technology and Die Application

Bending dies are the main process equipment for sheet metal processing and forming. With the development of engineering machinery, automobile, shipbuilding, aerospace, electrical instrumentation and construction decoration industries, sheet metal processing enterprises require higher and higher forming accuracy and shape complexity of sheet metal products, and also require higher and higher surface quality of sheet metal parts, especially for bending processing of stainless steel and aluminum plates, which requires no scratches. In order to avoid indentation marks on the workpiece surface during bending machine processing, the test analyzes the causes of surface indentation marks on sheet metal parts during bending from four aspects: bending method of sheet metal parts, material hardness, concave die structure, and selection of machine tool and die accuracy.
Defects of traditional bending: When bending, under the action of bending force, the sheet metal moves along the edge of the V-slot of the lower die and is extruded and slidingly rubbed by the bending force, thus forming obvious indentation and strain defects on the surface of the formed sheet metal parts, which seriously affects the appearance quality of the products. To solve the above defects in traditional bending, it is necessary to overcome the movement of the sheet metal during bending and the friction and squeezing force formed by the V-groove of the lower die on the sheet metal.
Roller type non-indentation tooling: When bending sheet metal, the workpiece is in contact with the carbide mandrel on the lower die during the bending process, and the mandrel will rotate in the direction of the sheet’s movement, so that the workpiece is changed from traditional sliding friction to rolling friction after contacting the lower die, which significantly reduces the indentation and abrasion on the surface of the workpiece due to extrusion and effectively improves the appearance quality and accuracy of the workpiece. However, in the bending process, the lower die roller and the plate still have extrusion pressure, which can not completely avoid the bending indentation, especially when bending soft material plates.
Rotating flap type non-indentation tooling: In the process of pressing the workpiece into the lower die body by the upper die, the workpiece does not slide with the rotating flap during the whole bending process because the workpiece is in contact with the rotating flap plane and the rotating flap is rotating in the lower die body, and at the same time, the workpiece is in contact with the rotating flap surface, which eliminates the indentation and abrasion on the workpiece surface due to extrusion and effectively improves the appearance quality and precision of the workpiece.
In addition to the above two non-indentation mold structure can solve the indentation on the surface of the workpiece during bending, can also be used to solve the indentation on the surface of the workpiece during bending through the use of anti-indentation rubber pad, hard rubber concave mold, etc. to achieve product quality requirements, but the rubber pad, rubber sleeve, superior rubber block and hard rubber in the bending process is easy to deformation, short service life, affect the dimensional accuracy of the bent workpiece, only applicable to the dimensional accuracy requirements are not high Workpiece bending.
